Hello!
I am trying to be master in padmasana. I wish to sit in this posture for atleast three hours to use it for meditation. After few days of practice, I can sit in padmasana for 10-15 minutes. But now I can't enter the posture as my hip and knee articulations feel even more rigid than before. I do not feel the normal stretch feeling, but this sensation of cold stiffness in my hips and knees. So, i want to ask how often should I practice this? I would be much grateful for any suggestions.

Ususally, it may take time for the ligaments to become extended so that the Lotus Pose is comfortable. If one cannot master the Lotus Pose, any of the other seated poses will do quite well for the purpose of meditation. Start slowly and acquire proficiency over a period of time.

For meditation, i guess it is not necessary to place the legs in padamasana i.e. the classic lotus posture. Any comfortable cross-legged posture provides a firm base for the body.
