Bronchial Asthama is a condition in which there is variable breathlessness due to wide spread narrowing of of peripeheral airways which varies in severity over short periods of time either spontaneously or with treatment. The narrowing of the peripheral airways can be due to any one of the following reasons; contraction of bronchial smooth muscle; odema of the mucus membranes; Mucus within the lumen. Broncho constriction is a normal response to noxious stmulai, such as cigrette smoke and sulphur dioxide, also alterations in concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the lumen. These responses are either direct or mediated reflexly by the vagus nerve. There can be many factors for the release of these agents generally it is infection and allergy. In some cases Asthma has been found due to heredity factors.
The general symptoms are: Restlessness mental excitement or depression. Flatulance or excessive voiding of urine. Dyspnoea (breathlessness) with a tendency to sit. Suffocative cough and wheezing in the chest. Coryza or sneezing.
If the diseasese is unchecked it can lead to collapse of the lungs in a severe attack.
There are many yogic asanas and pranayamas which control asthma to a very large extent. Certain pranayamas if done regularly completely cure most of the type of Asthmas. It has been practically experienced in children and old cases of Asthma that practise of pranayama even for a few days resulted in ther rapid cure and much less dependency on steroids and inhalers of many type of drugs.
Those who suffer from Asthma should give up smoking, chewing tabaco, eating betel masalas, alcohol and nonvegetatian food. They should avoid exposure to dry cold and eat dinner before sunset. Many people who have followed this advice had greatly benefited and are leading a much better life.
Those persons who want to learn asanas and pranayama for the control and cure must contact Yogi K S personally or PM.
