I have a pars defect so I cannot hyperextend backwards, but I need something that will help me increase my core strength and increase my hamstring flexibility.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

Backache takes place generally due to some injury to the spinal column. The injury may not be detected for a very long time and resultantly one gets back ache. Matsya Asana and Marjar Asana done for about a minute or more each day helps in curing back problems to a large extent.

This can be suitably coupled with other asanas. Advice by a qualified yoga instructor is necessary as he can view the injury and advice accordingly.
