Living with too much stress wears down the body by weakening the immune system, increasing blood pressure and overloading brain circuits. Researchers recently determined that stress affects the body at the cellular level in ways that could increase the risk of disease.

Beginning a regular yoga practice can teach you to channel stress positively and help bring balance back to your burned-out body. "Yoga postures, when practiced with proper breathing techniques, balance out the nervous system and override the body's "flight or fight" response, quieting the mind and inducing relaxation," explains Al Bingham, director of yoga at Yoga Zone, in New York City and co-author of Yoga Zone Introduction to Yoga. He adds, "Yoga is a total body workout - every pose works on the whole body." Yoga's deep breathing increases circulation and lung capacity, the twisting poses help drain the lymphatic system and inverted postures stimulate the glands.

Even if you don't have time for a full yoga session, spending five or 10 minutes recharging with your favorite posture can be just as beneficial - a little bit of yoga is better than no yoga at all. Spending time each day doing yoga stretches and deep breathing allows the body to heal and restores balance.

You can get knowledge about yoga online also, so get started - good luck.
