Opposing energies of hatha yoga

"Hatha represents the opposing energies", explain it, how it's possible? My friend told me the thing but I'm not satisfied with her answer. I'll appreciate your replies.

Hatha yoga represents the opposing energies e.g. hot and cold, positive ad negative, male and female. This yoga tries to balance mind and body through asanas and controlled breathing. It calms the mind through meditation and relaxation.
