How to start Meditation.
Meditation is not a difficult discipline. It does not belong to a particular sect or religion. Any one who wants to discover a new self or wants to relax the mind can start this practice. The first step is to calm the mind. Take a few long breaths. Now close the eyes and observe those breaths moving in and out of the nostrils. Feel the cool air going in and warm air while inhaling and exhalation. The mind will now calm, after this practice for about five minutes or more, focus your mind on God while observing the breath. To begin with there will be a little difficulty to keep the mind at two subjects. Gradually after a few sessions you will probably discover something which you will cherish. Sit cross legged or in padmaasana. Face North or East while meditating. Sit on the floor on a woolen cloth preferably a blanket. One can use a wooden chair or a wide stool and spread the blanket on it. Avoid sofas and chairs which have arms and make one feel uncomfortable. The place should be clean and if possible burn incense sticks there every day. Use the same place and do meditation at the same time every. One can adjust the timings according to ones habits and schedule. Do not talk about your experiences with anyone, even if there are no experiences do not worry you are progressing every minute you meditate.
